Networking Committee ChairsCorina Scoggins Lead Sector Manager, Teachers Retirement System of Texas Chairman - Austin Corina Scoggins, is the Lead Sector Manager, Global Consumer Research at the Teachers Retirement System of Texas, building on her prior role as the Portfolio Manager of the consumer staples and discretionary sectors on the US Large Cap Fund team. A move to Austin at the end of 1998 led to her transition from the sell-side to sector fund management, first as a Portfolio Manager at the Texas Permanent School Fund. Before moving to Austin, Corina worked in Kansas City at George K. Baum & Company, training first as an associate analyst. She left George K. Baum in 1998 as a Vice President in Equity Research and moved to Austin to marry a guitar player. Corina has over 15 years of investment experience, equally split between the sell-side and the buy-side. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in French and Economics, and later studied for a Master's of Arts at the University of Illinois-Springfield with an emphasis on environmental economics. Corina is a CFA Charterholder, and avid University of Kansas Basketball fan. Somer Washington, CPA Audit Manager, Rothstein Kass Co-Chairman - Dallas Somer Washington is a Manager in the Financial Services practice of Rothstein Kass. Based in Rothstein Kass' Dallas office, Ms. Washington began her career with the Firm in 2006. Ms. Washington has worked with various domestic and offshore clients within the alternative investment industry, including hedge funds, fund of funds and management companies, and has experience with long-short equity securities, fixed-income securities, commodities and various derivative products. Prior to joining Rothstein Kass, Ms. Washington held a position with Ryan & Company as a senior consultant in the state and local tax audit defense arena. Ms. Washington received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation from The University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Washington works as an adjunct instructor at Eastfield College. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). Ms. Washington is a certified public accountant in Texas. Carol Coale Managing Director, DRG&E Co-Chairman - Houston Carol Coale joined DRG&E as a Managing Director of its Energy Practice, serving as an equity analyst and investor relations consultant. Prior to joining DRG&E, Ms. Coale served as the Managing Director of the Energy Group at Sanders Morris Harris (SMH Capital) and provided sell-side research on integrated natural gas, power and exploration & production companies. She brings over 20 years of Wall Street experience to DGR&E, including a year as a Portfolio Manager at an energy hedge fund. Carol was a Senior Vice President for ten years at The Prudential Equity Group LLP where she was the Senior Equity Analyst for natural gas, utilities, and power company securities. She was ranked an All American Analyst for six consecutive years in the Institutional Investor magazine survey, reaching the number one spot in 2002. She also achieved the top ranking in Greenwich, Reuters and Starmine analyst surveys during that same time period, and was ranked three times as an All-Star analyst in the Wall Street Journal's stock picking survey. Also in 2003, Ms. Coale was named as one of the "Key Women in Energy Americas" by RaderEnregy, an energy consultancy. Before joining Prudential, Carol spent five years as an analyst with energy boutique Howard Weil Labouisse Friedrichs, and was a fixed income analyst and trader at Rauscher Pierce Refsnes (now RBC Capital), E.F. Hutton, and Rotan Mosle (now UBS). Carol earned her MBA from Southern Methodist University and is an honors graduate with a BA from the University of Texas in Austin. Leah Miller Operations Manager, STREETTALKADVISORS Co-Chairman - Houston Leah joined Streettalk Advisors in 2010 after working for SFMG Wealth Advisors in Dallas for over 3 years. She has experience with alternative investments, private placements and asset allocation. As the Operations Manager she is responsible for managing trade execution in discretionary portfolios, client service and relationships, human resources, and technology integration. Streettalk is a RIA firm and produces Streettalk Live, a daily financial talk radio show. While attending college, Leah was an active member of the Finance Association and served as an intern at Morgan Stanley for 2 years. Leah graduated from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University in 2007 with a B.B.A in Finance.
